Plans and credits

Everything in Peki that uses AI is measured in credits. Your workspace has a credit balance and a plan. The plan decides whether your agents can go live; the balance pays for the AI work. You see both in Settings → Plan & credits.

Plans

Every workspace is on one of two plans.

PlanWhat you can do
Free planBuild and test agents. Publishing needs a package.
Paid planEverything on the free plan, and your agents can go live.

New workspaces start on the Free plan.

What the free plan can do

On the free plan you can do almost everything you need to get an agent ready:

  • build agents with the Copilot or by hand: instructions, tools, Functions, skills, knowledge, guardrails,
  • talk to your agent in the Test panel,
  • connect channels (the website chat and Telegram) so they are ready the moment you go live,
  • invite your team, create API keys and set up automations.

What the free plan can't do: publish

Publishing is what makes a version live for your customers, and it needs a paid plan. On a free workspace:

  • the Publish button shows a lock and "Publishing needs a package", with a link to Plan & credits,
  • the Copilot explains that publishing needs a package instead of trying again,
  • the API refuses with HTTP 402 and the code plan_required.

Because nothing is published, a connected channel doesn't answer customers yet, and the Sessions API can't start sessions with the agent.

Restoring an older version into your draft still works on the free plan, because nothing goes live.

What a credit is

A credit is the unit Peki uses to measure AI work. Every time a model reads or writes something for you, or a service like web search or knowledge processing runs, the work is measured and taken from your balance in credits.

1 credit = $0.01. For scale: a full onboarding with the Copilot is usually around 90 credits.

A few things to know:

  • Credits are charged as the work happens, not at the end of the month.
  • Small jobs can cost a fraction of a credit. Charges are kept with two decimals and the History shows them that way (for example -0.37).
  • Balances are shown in whole credits, rounded up: a balance of 419.2 shows as "420 credits".
  • Every charge belongs to the workspace whose agent, conversation or automation caused it.

What uses credits

WhatShown in the history asNotes
Building with the CopilotCopilotEvery Copilot turn, including its web searches and summaries.
Your agents' replies to customersAgent repliesWebsite chat, Telegram and the Sessions API, including guardrail checks, web search and calls to other agents on the team.

AutomationsAutomationsEach automation run that uses a model.
Records fill and evaluationsRecords and analyticsFilling records after a conversation and the analysis of finished conversations.
Reading knowledge sourcesKnowledgeProcessing a new document, page or file you add to Knowledge.

The history also has two kinds that add or correct credits:

KindMeaning
Credits addedCredits added to your balance, like your free starting credits.
CorrectionA manual correction of your balance.
tip

Automations stay cheap when they check with code first and only use the model when something changed. See Automations.

Free starting credits

You get 500 free credits once per person, on the first workspace you create. They show in the history as Credits added. That's enough for a few full onboardings (around 90 credits each) and test conversations.

Workspaces you create after your first one start at 0 credits. Joining someone else's workspace as a member doesn't give credits; the workspace uses its own balance.

Your balance

Settings → Plan & credits shows three numbers:

CardWhat it shows
PlanFree plan or Paid plan.
CreditsYour current balance. The card notes "1 credit = $0.01. Copilot, tests, replies and automations use credits."
Used this monthCredits used since the 1st of the month, in your workspace time zone. Only charges count, not credits added.

Every member can see this page. Only admins and owners see the History below it.

History

The History table lists every change to your balance, newest first:

ColumnMeaning
WhenDate and time of the charge or grant.
WhatThe kind (for example Agent replies), and a note when there is one.
CreditsThe change: -1.25 for a charge, +500.00 for credits added.
BalanceThe balance right after this change.

It shows 50 rows at a time. Use Older and Newer to page through.

For totals by kind, by agent and by day, open the Usage page.

The low-credit warning

The sidebar always shows your plan and balance at the bottom, for example Free plan with "420 credits" next to it. Click it to open Plan & credits.

  • Amber: fewer than 50 credits left.
  • Red: 0 credits or less.

No email is sent when you run low, so keep an eye on the sidebar while you build.

When credits run out

When your balance reaches 0 or less, new AI work that you start stops with "You are out of credits." and a link to Plan & credits. Nothing you built is lost.

WhatAt 0 credits
CopilotNew messages are refused. A Copilot turn that is already running checks the balance before each step and ends with the out-of-credits message.
Test panel and Copilot testsNew test messages are refused.
AutomationsA run that is due doesn't start. The automation pauses with "Paused: the workspace is out of credits. Add credits in Settings → Plan & credits, then resume." Resume it yourself once you have credits again; it doesn't restart on its own.
New knowledgeAdding a new source is refused, so it isn't read or indexed. Sources you already have keep working.
Live replies to customersNever stop.

Over the API, a refused request gets HTTP 402 with the code credits_exhausted:

{ "message": "Out of credits", "code": "credits_exhausted" }

Live replies never stop

Your customers never hit an out-of-credits wall. Live agents of paid workspaces keep answering on every channel even when the balance is at zero, and the balance goes below zero. Work tied to those live conversations, like filling records and analysing finished conversations, keeps running too.

Work that was already running when the balance hit zero finishes its current step, so the balance can end up a little below zero.

note

Added credits simply add to the balance. If your balance is at -40 and 100 credits are added, you're at 60.
